It is a nice color. Its sure to have huge hp and torque, more than enough to destroy anything short of a Nascar racebuilt 9 inch Ford. It looks to have some Mondello parts, - I might be wrong but I think Mondello, Joe Mondello was the Shelby of Olds tuning/performance. Looks as if from circa mid 1970's. Not everyone will agree with this but there is a point where you can have a vehicle with too much hp and torque. This will be a cheap purchase for one of those motorheads that are paying those big bucks for all those awful cars with Big Block, COPO, or Hemi at Barrett-Jackson that look like what Joe Friday or maybe your mom drove in 1968. Only thing is that Sgt Friday's or the family grocery getter did not usually have a 1000 pound lump of an engine that made it challenging to drive other than in a straight line and braking required 3 city blocks of planning and dry pavement. From what I have seen, there are many more refined, modified Vairs that
appear to be engineered better, but that is just an opinion, - The "Binnie Turbo" appears to be light years ahead, certainly from a packaging/engineering/refinement basis . Obviously this Corvette Killer was built long ago but you have to ask yourself why would you want this less refined, example of crude power versus a vehicle that is much closer to what should have been what the Corvair could have evolved into ("Binnie") had GM had better engineering and dedication to the Corvair. As for the Corvette Killer, yes I am sure it is put together well ,but , Billy, the all American kid , and his buddies in their 10th grade Auto Shop class , can construct some similar Frankenstein , also with excessive power , and similar driveability or lack there of . Goes like a bottle rocket - in a straight line, looses control easily with a tendancy to wrap around power poles and trees! For "Billy" and his juvenile delinquent buddies it is an
education, as they learn what not to build in the future as they realize important seat of the pants engineering principles and move on to building better vehicles instead of rocket powered death traps! Apologies to anyone named Billy, William, or Bill. The Corvette wasn't all that great. Both the Datsun 280 ZX and Mazda RX-7 outperformed it in the late 1970's! Like the 911, the Vette was far over rated. The 911 and Corvette were always good looking cars. The 911 was always a good performer but its reliability and durability was No Better than the Corvair. The Porsche did benefit from constant refinement such as electronic fuel injection from '72 on and galvanized bodies on '76 and later. Way back in the '70's, I was told that unofficially BMW was break my wallet, Mercedes was make me poor, and Porsche was poorhouse, as in ticket to the poorhouse. Seriously, they are quality cars, its just that it takes serious $ to service them properly. The Porsche
is probably the most costly to maintain and many of its problems are similar to the Corvair. Just goes to show you don't need to spend a fortune unless you want to. Tamias Metis
