It sure will! It is just slower! And the precautions necessary to keep from
dying are easier to perform.

Personally I use lacquer for objects that will be inside ( museum pieces
and furniture) and Urethanes for objects used outdoors or need to be high
gloss with no work (normal vehicles and furniture).
