As far as raising the seat goes, the real problem seems to be the loss of 
thickness in the seat cushion due to age and use.  The most satisfactory 
solution is to have the seat  bottoms rebuilt to return the cushion to it's 
original height.  I'm about to do that on our '62 wagon.
