<VV> LOST MY DASH LIGHTS

Fuses, fuses, fuses
In my understanding, the dash lights are not a part of the stop lamp
circuit, nor do they have their own "stand-alone" circuit. As I understand
GM circuits, the dash lamp fuse is a sub-fuse off of the tail-light circuit.
The head light switch has (at least) two power inputs. One is direct
battery for the headlights and those circuits are protected by an internal
circuit breaker. The other input is for the tail lights, and that input is
comes from the fuse box and is protected by a fuse (tail). The dash light
rheostat get their power from a jumper internal to the switch, the rheostat
output goes to the fuse panel, through the dash lights fuse, and then back
up to the instrument panel. That's why the dash light fuse has no power to
it unless the switch is on and the dimming rheostat is in a middle position.

Since Rod lost his dash lights but didn't mention a goofy fuel gauge, I'd
say his failure is more likely in the headlight switch or a corroded contact
in the fuse box. (he said the fuse was good).
