when I hear that an elected official is a great guy because "he makes 
the tough choices" - what that usually means is that he's willing to 
front for ideas for special intrests that go against the grain of those 
he's supposed to be represening. As a general rule, as a representative 
body we should not have the arrogance to "make unpopular decisions".
