Mr. Hawley,

Forgot to mention the how to undo the clip that holds the rod to the inner 
door handle.

1.  Remove the bolts that hold the inner handle to the door.
2.  Rotate the handle assembly 90 degrees and disengage the the clip from 
the slot in the rod.

The clip is just a rectangular key that slips through the rectangular hole 
in the rod when properly aligned.
