<VV> wimpy old valve problem

After hearing about a flywheel blowing up this is pretty trivial...

btw...my brother was riding as a passenger in a Mustang a very long
time ago when the flywheel blew up in that car...it went up thru the
tunnel/floor, dash, windshield, and hood...it was a miracle that no one
got hurt.

Per my previously reported valve problem, I thought I would just try
adjusting everything before getting serious and pulling a head off as
someone said that it might just be that it backed off...though I'd
never heard of that happening...willing to try an easy fix first
though.

Following the cold adjustment procedure (normally adjust running...and
I noticed that all were cranked out more on the loose side by that
method), I still ended up with a rocker on the #2 exhaust that I can
move with my hand after adjusting and then coming back to it a few
minutes later. The valve stem does not appear to be pushed down at
static position so I don't think that the valve seat is popped. With
the head installed and a trouble light, I could not see any problems
with the valve spring, but it may still be either a spring or a
collapsed lifter on that cylinder. Given the fact that I can adjust it
and then it seems to be loose shortly after...it seems that that would
be the lifter. Everything else appears ok on all cylinders.

Now if I can actually get that lifter to come out w/o pulling
everything else apart.

spare engine for just such an occaision
