Jim - - -Don't forget our monitary system and highways. But maybe not even highways, here in Indiana, we have leased our toll road for 75 years for $3.8 Billion dollars. In the first 11 months, we have received $150 million in interest on the principal. The State could not run it that good!!! - - -Dick Shank

Really? I *love* to see government divesting itself of businesses they
have no business being involved in. If there is reason for such a
museum to exist in the Detroit area, the private sector will establish
it and run it. There are only 3 legitimate functions of government -
1) Defense 2) Police and 3) Courts. Everything else is better done
via the free market. If it is possible to make support itself, said
museums will exist either for profit or as non-profit private
foundations. Governments don't know how to do things efficiently...
you wind up with a crappy museum propped up by a LOT of taxpayer
money. It would be sad if the museum collection was getting dumped
into Lake Huron, but that isn't the case. Somebody will buy that 60
Corvair, and the Turbine car and everything else...
