Dear Sirs.

Again from Colombia I just CAME out the street my new 66 Turbo,I´m located
in Bogota at 8600 feet, I{m experimenting flooded in the carb, even the gas
goes out at the intake of air, This carb has been rebuilt by Larry Claypool
so it is almos perfect I´m not sure if is an usual problem with turbo
engines, are there any suggestions for this carb at this altitude, and also
if you have suggestions for Turbo Engines I will be glad to receive.

Regards

Hi Phil,

You are correct about the cloth seats and bench seat availability in 62
Monza's. I do not have 1st hand vision of any Monza wagon interiors, but
have seen 62 Monza 4 door sedan interiors many times. I currently own a
factory original 62 Monza sedan with the red brocade cloth bench seat
interior with a 4 speed stick and factory air conditioning. This is one of
the most beautiful Corvair interiors I have ever seen and is why I own it!

Anyhow, reading the 62 Monza Wagon talk, what is a good book re ID of said

engine,
and a cloth Int and stick shift. The other I saved from a junk yard here in
MD,
with what appears to to the orig 102 HP engine, w/PG. Oil filler tube and
dip

Was various trim/engines /trans combos available for Monza Designator? I
have
been told that this was also the only year (1962) that cloth was available
vs
vinyl on door panels and seat inserts....

I have been also told that my 62 w/cloth, tinted windows and stick is a rare

combo/example of the model.

Thanks,

the door panels. My father has 63 coupe that came with cloth inserts as

Hi Frank and Matt (and VVairdom!)

I bought one from Clarks a few years ago. The PCB on the inside
has the name Carter on it. I'm running one (actually my second) and for
all you old time electronics guys out there, it's an analog transistor
knock retard device with progressive adjustable retard and an integrated
coil. Don't EVER run without a load (plugs/coil/wires on it! Don't ask
me how I know!
After it died, I took it apart to see if I could fix it. Nah!
There is a company in Ohio that specializes in GMC motorhomes that will
repair them.

Hey Matt,
It's actually the Carter EKE meaning Electronic Knock Eliminator.
But
maybe Carter did actually sell an electronic ignition setup. Has
anyone ever
heard of it?

Hi Everyone,
Had a surprise or two on Labor Day when we got the 63 Spyder vert up on
a hoist. It was up there to replace the left side valve cover gasket
which required a helicoil in one of the bolt holes. Since its been
getting harder to shift and making some noise we wanted to replace the
bushings in the shifter tube....but there was no tube. Inside the
tunnel the whole shifter rod moves back and forth for gear selection. Is
this a normal installation on this car? a modification? Decided the
noise is a release bearing anyway so some major work over the winter.
Also some very leaky axle seals at the diff which also appears to be a
major job. Glad I have my experienced car guy mechanic nearby. Any
encouragement or direction? Something else we should be doing once we
get into the major stuff.? Suggestions always appreciated and evaluated.
