This was "TO&E" in the US military which had always used different 
electrolytes in batteries scheduled to be used in hot climates like 
Vietnam or the middle east, vs the batteries that were to end up in 
Germany or Alaska etc.

A supply sgt pointed it out in a parts manual when I asked why there 
were two different types of  battery listed for the M-113 APC.
