There are many clubs in which the national organization collects the chapter dues.  It is the best way to assure 100% membership in the national.  Chapters would have to get every member in their chapter to join the national or drop them from their membership list.  The dues and a membership list get forwarded to the chapter and the chapter handles their own financial business.  On the plus side the chapter treasurer never has to chase down anyone for the dues.

The single greatest reason for a chapter to be part of the national organization is insurance.  Without it local clubs would have to buy their own insurance ... and the cost would put them out of business.  Meet without insurance?  In the event of a tragedy the liability could fall on the shoulders of the officers of the chapter even if the chapter is incorporated.  There are usually not enough members that want to be officers now; who would ever want to be an officer with that liability?

There have been many times that CORSA has complained about lack of financial resources and having them collect all the dues would help that situation.  It would not be that great a job to have a computer program that will handle that with ease.

The one part that I really do not like is there will be a certain number of members that will drop out and even though I have many, many friends I would not want to loose even one of them over national club dues.
