Guys,
I have been a member of CORSA for a long time; as well as a member of three local & 1 nongeographic chapter.
Although there are certainly benefits to mandating national club membership - this may well be discouraging to the newbies we are trying to attract.  Although most of us don't consider the cost of membership onerous - some young kid (teens to 30) interested in our old cars may see this as cost prohibitive.
We understand you have to 'pay to play'; but given that the Corvair is still the most economical collector car around - I would rather see some young people buying & using these cars; as opposed to the membership that thinks the cars are too good or important to be used (unless they are fully restored, garaged, & trailered).
Yes, I am approaching fifty, driving a semibeater Corvair every day.  I am proud of that fact.  Although I have another car or two that have potential to be really nice; it is cost/time constraints that keep me from making significant progress on them.
