last time i had a block i wanted to save after finding it in a junk pile i
just blew the steel part out of the block with a fast hot cutting torch. i
figured i had nothing to lose so...but it worked perfectly. very little clean up
with a tap and a stock stud has been holding for over 5000 miles now.
i have seen this done before when all else does not work with good results
every time. the aluminum seems to get soft way after the steel left. check at
your repair shop , welding shop , or old time farm equipment repair
guys...they must have saved something important this way before.
but do not even think about removing good useable studs!
regards , happy new years...
