<VV> TURBO MUFFLERS

i was talking about  CORVAIR TURBO mufflers.   there are a  lot of "turbo" 
mufflers out there now that are very different.
if you put a corvair turbo muffler on your non turbo engine you WILL be  very 
loud. i once made a 2 1/4 inch crossover pipe for a van and put a corvair  
turbo muffler on it.  you could hardly notice a difference in noise level  with 
the muffler off and a straight pipe in it's place.  in fact i still  have that 
pipe after over 20 years as a test pipe when adjusting valves.   it has a 
turndown like a turbo on a pipe about 20 inches long.
conversely you could run that pipe on a turbo without much change in noise  
levels , but you could hear the whine of the turbo when boosting.
