<VV> Items in the mail & PG questions

Yesterday was a great day! I got home and received my free map with a
corvair on it. It is most certainly worth the price for it :)

The other item was the video on rebuilding the PG from Harry. Great job
Harry! After watching the video I do not fear the unknown anymore. I
was actually shocked at how easy it looked. This is something that
anyone can do if they can put drum brakes on. Well Ok, I haven't done
it yet but it looks like it would be that easy, either that or Harry
really did a great job.

I need to watch it again and take notes. One item that Harry used will
have to be made up, that is the tool to compress the reverse piston and
the clutch drum. It looks to be simple, a flat plate with 3 dowels.
But what is the diameter that the 3 dowels are on? What length of dowel
is best in order to get the snap ring pliers in there?

I am thinking that a realistic time frame from start to finish on this
project is 14 days. Keep in mind that I have to work, run kids around,
and do honey-do items. This will be remove the drive train from
rampside, remove transmission, tear down, clean/inspect, order parts,
have case cleaned, reassemble tranny, install tranny, and put drive
train back in. Most of the time will be waiting on parts. Does this
sound about right?

Is there any "break in" procedure on a transmission rebuild? I have
never heard of one but...

I will probably have more questions on this as I go.

Thanks,

Keith Hammett
