<VV> Bad listening... wrong diagnostic

I'm not sure that I fully understood your description....

But (to me) a chirp sound is a leaky head gasket or a dry rocker ball. How
is the rocker dry? Somebody installed the push rod with the wrong end up
(out). That, or the rocker is very tired and near the failure point - but
that can also sound a bit like a knock (but not really a ping).

OK... I don't need to see a bunch of emails distinguishing a knock and a
ping - they are MY EARS.

If it is EITHER of these items, it seems as if you should have at least been
able to isolate which side of the engine to start on first (is that
redundant?).

It is possible that with your work, you have managed to sort of accidentally
lube the offending part and it will be quiet for a little while. Did you
check if the push rods are in correctly?

I'll reiterate that I may have not correctly understood the question.
Reiterate is NOT a musical instrument.

Later, JR
