<VV> White Smoke - was basics

Started the convert (140) today after a several month nap (the car, not me).
Ran rough - sounded like a miss on the right side. White "smoke-like"
substance issuing forth which I initially took to be condensation boiling
off. But, then I noticed a fairly strong odor of fuel. Lid was up and a
glance in the engine compartment showed a puddle of fuel forming on the top
side of the right shroud. Inspection under the car show a puddle forming
there as well. By this point, there was a puddle forming from the exhaust
as well.

Shut her down and tinkered a bit. Took about a 1/8 to 1/4 turn on the top
carb screws on the rt side and banged around on both carbs with the handle
of a screwdriver. Sprayed and wiped off with some brake clean so that I
could spot the leak quicker if it came back. It didn't. So, I'm
attributing this to at least one - possibly 2 stuck floats which I managed
to un-stick.

Anyway, the point was that "white smoke" can be too much gas. More gas than
can be burned in the cylinder(s).

Later, JR
