Bill asked:
Hi all...Can anyone tell me if the main metering jet in the 110 carburetor
is used for both the idle circuit as well as the main(cruising-high speed)
circuit?

Craig sez:
Yes, but the size doesn't really affect things. All the fuel to run the
engine comes from the "main well" under the venturi cluster. The main well
gets filled from the main jet in the bottom of the bowl but any size main
jet flows the required fuel without posing much restriction.

Craig speaks the truth. There are a couple of other factors. The float level
matters to the fuel-air ratio as well, at least off idle. Since the mixture
is pulled by the feed into the venturi, the fuel level on the tube at the
bottom of the cluster determines how much fuel vs. air gets pulled in. Raising
the float level will richen the mixture. Not much, but it also assures enough
fuel under cornering. Also, when the high speed enrichment circuit kicks in,
fuel is added to the well through the fixed orifice, in addition to the main
jet. So the selection of the main jet doesn't much effect on the idle mixture,
but after the motor comes off idle, it matters. - Seth
