<VV> Oil Filters

Eric...   My issue with the present day Purolator (and others) filters is 
the U shaped gasket at the top.  It cannot be tightened down enough to let 
the inner gasket seal.  This allows the oil to flow across the top of the 
filter rather than through the filter element.

Actually I've always used Purolator, and had good luck with them. YMMV
But you did get me to poke around on the internet for some real proof that 
they are ok. Here's an interesting page by someone who at least cut them 
apart, and it did some actual testing. There are pictures, numbers, and 
everything. He even mentioned gospel.. oh wait he said "These pages are NOT 
to be taken as gospel." darn. :(
