i mixed a little of both brake fluids together in a glass jar  back in  the 
early 70's and it was not a pretty sight. so i always flush or replace most  of 
the system before the changeover. i also use silicone fluid as an assembly  
fluid when working with cylinders destined for silicone use.
same goes for waterpumpers changing from pink antifreeze to green...flush  
carefully or you definitely will have a big mess on your hands shortly. this is  
from things i have seen , not guessing!
