Hello Everyone:

Attached is an email from Dave Brown (friend and fellow club member) with a
general question (or perhaps curiosity) concerning what appears to be an
"oil warmer" that was on a '65 sedan that he is currently restoring. He has
attached a link to our club website with photos of this item.

Does anyone have any experience with this accessory and if so can you shed
some light on the benefits and appropriate application?

Regards,

Mark Clarke (Pres., Corvair Houston)

Subject: Oil Warmer

Hi Mark,
Regarding my geographically (Houston) challenged Corvair oil warmer, could
you please forward this to my VV friends (I need to get my email situation
sorted out & get back on VV some day soon!). Anyway, I am curious to see if
anyone else has seen one of these and/or has had any experience with them.
I just removed from my wife's 65 sedan (I'm just starting to restore) what I
think is an aftermarket Corvair Oil Warmer! It says "Made in Canada" on the
power cord (plugs in to AC, 120v) and bolts on to the bottom of the oil pan
& has a heating coil like in an oven. Weird, huh? Especially out of place
on a Houston car! Its history is documented here since early 80's, so it
was likely up in the cold country before that some time, but the thing was
left on the car before it went into storage in 1988. I have posted some
pictures on our Corvair Houston web site- here is the link:

What do you think?

Thanks!
