<VV> e-coat and e-coaters

Back in the collision shop (80s and 90s time frame) we used PPGs epoxy 
primers (DP40, DP50, etc) on bare metal as body fillers can be used on 
top of it. It actually promoted better adhesion than filler on bare 
metal, and prevented rust from forming under the filler. These have been 
replced by a greener formula product (DPLF series for lead free). Specs

Obviously dipping a stripped body is a better idea.

I have no experience with e-coat, or anything else that has become 
available in the last 8 years. I am also interested in current 
experience commenting on this.
