agreed with most responses here.
1.) attempt another carrier
2.) look to your "regular" insurance carrier for special rates relating too classics
3.) attempt same or different carrier and simply "forget" you living with someone else :-)
4.) buy a $500 piece of crap, title it and insure it and park it in front of your agent's office and "forget about it" or park in the the lot of your insurance carrier beautiful corporate headquarters and "forget about it"
 it seems pretty extreme to have your wife turn in her DI for this case.

I am also with Hagerty, and am very happy with them - they allow you to drive
your classic for recreational use in addition to just car shows and parades. 
But they DO require a daily driver for all household members.   I would try
applying with them and indicate yourself as the only driver in the household. 
Of course this unfortunately means your wife doesn't get to drive the
Corvair...
