<VV> Strange drive train experience, excuse the lenthy post

I agree with Daniel.  My 67 did this to me a couple of months ago.  No scraping noises or anything, just seemed like dragging brakes.  Didnt compare heat levels, but my step-son called me on the way to work with the car and said it felt like the rear wheel came loose and the whole car wobbled suddenly.   It would be OK for a mile or so, then repeat.  That bearing was TOAST, along with the universal joints on that side.  Multiple failures, in my case probably caused by the impact of an accident the car had experienced about 2 years ago which whacked a sign post into that side wheel well and bent the wheel and fender.

Replaced with rebuilt unit from a vendor.  a little pricey, but time is money too, so I was happy.  Car is rolling fine since.

By the symptoms, it looks like rear wheel bearings went South. It happened
me some 15 years ago on the same right side, 200 miles far from home. Don´t
drive the car before inspecting those bearings and brake linings. Hope it is
only dragging brake linings.
    If bearings, they are: outer, LM67048 + LM67010. Inner, M86649 + M86610.
They are both Timken and Bower numbers.

was about 5 times hotter than the left side. If you hold your hand over the
right rear tire are, not the tire itself, it was very warm. The left side was
warm but much cooler, like the engine compartment.....>>
