Finally, the main wiring harness is a bear to replace and you should not do
it unless you know what is involved or have someone experienced to assist
you.

I've never done this but wonder, what is so hard about replacing the main
harness?

Dave Writes:

Everyone has their talents and lack of talent. I for one am a Telephone man.
Because of that, wiring comes easy to me and I totally understand the
prints. Put a paint sprayer in my hand and all you get is runs, sags and a
bad paint job.

I'm sure that with practice, I can learn to paint, the same as with practice
the electrically declined can learn to understand wiring.

In my opinion, that's what this hobby is all about; attempting the never
done and learning along the way. That's why I enjoy this chat list. Before I
start a "never done that" project, I get advice from those who have "been
there done that". Then I slowly and methodically attack the job.

A month or so ago, I replaced my steering box. I had never done any
suspension work. I got a few recommendations and dove into the job. It took
longer than I expected but in the end everything turned out great.

Don't get my wrong; replacing a main wiring harness is a major job. But it
is not undoable. One good thing about replacing an existing wiring harness
is that you have one in place to start with. Take pictures and notes as you
remove the old harness. These will be invaluable when the new harness goes
in. When you are done you can strand back, admire and be proud of your work.

Good luck,
