<VV> Leaking Fuel Pump

Quite true. That's why mine has an impact switch and a oil pressure switch wired in series with the pump wiring so that the electric pump will shut off if the oil pressure fails OR if the car undergoes a sudden impact due to a collision. After long periods of non-use, I use a push button bypass switch on the dash to prime the carb with the pump before the oil pressure rises.
This type of impact switch is found on many Ford products. I've had to show some of my Ford driving friends both where the switch is located and why and how to reactivate it in case of a minor collision that disables it but still leaves the car able to be driven..

Some with
electric pump only use it at cold start up and then turn it off and drive on
the mechanical one. There are safety issues with an electric pump if it
does not shut off in a crash.
