<VV> Playing nice

Well, at the end of the day, whether or not you think it's a putdown, is purely your own perception of it.l I had a 66 Corsa turbo ragtop, and never felt insulted by that term. And if I did, what am I supposed to do about it? Complain, and have my other teenage buddies just dig in deeper?

So, we get what each term means in the Corvair world. I think we should all just leave it at that.

John,

That may be true, but see my post to Roy.

Personally I feel a bit insulted when someone calls my '67 Monza 4door a
mere "sedan". It sounds cheap, and with every option on it possible,
there's nothing cheap about the car. Therefore, if you MUST use the term
"sedan", at least be grammatically correct and call it by its full
marketing name "Sport Sedan". Now if we can just agree on THAT....

BTW, did you know where the term "ragtop" came from? It originated from
early turn-of-the-century convertibles, which had cloth tops on them. As
they aged, the tops deteriorated into nothing but rags. Hence the term
refers to a rather clapped-out convertible. A bit of a putdown, by anyone's
standards. LOL

coupe, we ALL know they're talking about the 2 door, if someone talks about
a Corvair sedan, we ALL know they're talking about the 4 door, and if
they're talking about a Corvair convertible, we KNOW they're talking about
a ragtop. There's no doubt about this, even if the non Corvair world has
obfuscations of these definitions.
