Before doing any adjustment on the steering box, thoroughly read - and
re-read - the section on adjustments and torque adjustments. The procedure
must be
followed exactly as described in order to remove the play, but allow proper
movement inside the box. Little bits of adjustments mean a lot.

In other words, don't just tighten the screw adjustment accessible through
the trunk. Chevrolet didn't recommend it for a good reason. If the tie rod
ends, pittman arm bushing and idler arm are all tight and the steering is
still loose then do the step by step steering box adjustment specified in the
manual. And give yourself a couple of hours to do it right (count the turns on
the steering wheel, be sure the wheel is centered at the mid point etc.).
Otherwise you will have a damaged or ruined steering box.
