I never approached Mike -- I don't think detailed how-to articles involving a fair amount of expense belong in the Communiqué.  First, they're of limited interest to a general audience.  Second, they work best with lots of pictures and diagrams.  Third, they need to be someplace where they can be easily accessed.

On the last point, I have a zillion Communiqués, but finding a tech article in the pile is hopeless.

That's what Mike told you?  I mean, it's more special interest than  
the Swiss Corvairs or the Corvette engine Corsa?

Ok, here's another thought - write a couple paragraph synopsis for  
the Communique and invite people to the longer version online.
