The Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia is a
five-diamond luxury resort and hotel that was a favorite haunt of GM executives
back in the days when the Corvair was new. GM chose Greenbrier as the name
for the Corvair van as an homage to the resort. The Spyder option and the
convertible were introduced there and the red/red Spyder convertible that
debuted there remained for years in the hands of a higher-up employee of the
resort and garaged there. He sold it to Corsa member, Allen Bristow, I
believe in the '90s. In his hands, the car underwent an outstanding
restoration. I'm not sure if he still owns it. I remember seeing it, with an
informative display of the car's history at the gathering commemorating the 30th
anniversary of the '69s that took place in 1999 when the CPF collection
was housed in Virginia. The car was also seen in the People's Choice display
in Lexington at that convention. The car is definitely a Concours quality
vehicle but that year Allen felt he did not have the time to give it a
proper detailing for Concours.

As a native West Virginian and a Corvair fanatic, I am proud of the
Greenbrier resort's historic ties to the Corvair.
