 The requirements for a car becoming a Fitch were that the car had to have 5 Fitch items installed. That's it. No special tags or anything else. You can still make any Corvair a Fitch today, if you get 5 authentic Fitch options. They are far less stringent than the Yenko standards, as the Sprints were not sanctioned as the Stingers were, for SCCA competition. 
 Of course your newly born Sprint would not be worth as much as a Sprint converted at John's shop, or even at that time, but it would still be a Sprint.
