Bottom line, altering a VIN is a FEDERAL offense, period. It doesn't matter  
if you're doing it to save a good car with no intent of defrauding anyone. 
(BTW  what happens to the car after you're gone?) If you get caught you can loose 
the  car, be fined and even do jail time. It's your life and your choice. All 
we're  saying is discuss it somewhere else, CORSA and VV do not endorse such 
action  directly or implied.
