This is for Grant, and anyone else that may have an elder person that needs
to stop driving. I was also a Drivers Ed teacher, so this works. In Texas,
all Doctors, by law, must report any condition, or meds that a patient is
on, or has, that would make it a danger for them to be behind the wheel.
Check with your local DPS, State Troopers office and see. That way, you are
not the bad guy that says they can't drive anymore, it is the Dr., and the
State Police that is making them stop driving. The Drs. never do this, but
will if requested to do so. Here, the DPS sends a letter to the person
requesting a court hearing about this, and they must report and surrender
the license in court. It makes an impact. Best thing is to just go talk with
the local State Troopers office. They will be very grateful to get another
elder driver off the road. Give it a try, and good luck. BRUCE
