Why the difference in hp ratings between the 95 and the 110 smog motors?

In addition to the reduced compression ratio, there's the more major issue
of the camshaft. The 110 had the higher rpm 891 cam from 64-69 and the 95
had the higher torque, lower rpm 889 cam. The 110 can spin faster due to the
cam and HP = rpm x torque. More rpm = more hp all other thing being equal.

As far as squish (incorrectly called quench, quench is bad. Quench is a dead
area in the chamber) goes - the importance of a tumbling mixture is more and
more known. Modern engines tumble the mixture three ways. (tumble, swirl,
and intake tumble). Chamber tumble (caused by a tight squish area) is what
we can promote.

The reason Hemi engines have an "open" chamber is because of the centrally
located sparkplug. Modern hemi engines have a chamber that's relatively
small, surrounded by squish.

FWIW, I didn't understand the offensive tone of the last big post either.
What was that all about?
