<VV> Turbo Carb question

First, even with the return line kinked, the pressure regulator will limit
to the set point. No return line needed.

Now to p*** off half the people here. A pressure regulator is a band-aid
approach to a carb or fuel pump PROBLEM. I have never needed on on my or
customer cars. Fix the problem first. Now back to helping you...

Carter uses a diaphram style accelerator pump. And not just on the YH model
carb, a hint for F-150 6 cylinder owners. When it springs a hole, it floods
gas into the venturi. Check this first. A common ailment. Then as others
have said, make sure the float is still floating (and adjusted to correct
level).

Grant Young had some new needle and seats available that were better at
sealing. Make sure your seals off.

Subject: <VV> Turbo Carb question

Hi,

The car is a 66 turbo, recently rebuilt and everything runs quite well.

Tonight I was trying to fine tune the idle and I noticed two odd things.

The engine sped up slightly as I turned the idle mixture screw in. I stopped
at about ¾ of a turn from fully seated.

Also, and I don’t know if this is related but as I turned the idle mixture
screw in the gas started to drip out of the carburetor and this is with the
pressure regulator cranked right down to 1 ½ pounds.

The engine sounds fine, is smooth and idling at about 850 RPM at this
point. The carburetor was rebuilt and hasn’t leaked like this since I put
the pressure regulator in the line. The engine has about 2,000 miles on it
since the rebuild.

There are no kinks in the fuel return line and I checked for obvious air
leaks (it was getting dark by now) and all of the connections were tight.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks,

Bob
