<VV> Setting the idle

The meter has cables that clip onto (around) the spark plug wires. I
assumed that the tach could be measured by clipping the #1 spark plug
wire. The other measurements were just an afterthought to see what
the readings were. I'm a teacher, not a mechanic or electrician. As
far as vacuum leaks, I'm at a loss here to know exactly where to
start. I can tell you that the tubes to the vacuum devise on the
chokes are new, the plug for the vacuum nozzle on the left hand carb
is in place, I have the tube that connects the carbs to the tranny
connected with hose clamps at the carbs and the connection to the
tranny, and I am using the thicker 1/16 ? gaskets (2 each side) on
the carb bases (plus the insulator of course). I also have the
vacuum advance secure. Where do I start? Am I measuring the tach at
the right place using the correct method?

Stephen
