<VV> Tongue-in-Cheek Oil Filter Solution

All kidding aside, a bypass oil filter system works far better than a Fram
or any other full flow filter. Just due to the fact that a filter must pass
oil at so many gallons per minute means it cannot be fine enough to collect
the small stuff. So the Franz idea was developed to catch the small
stuff. So great that long haul truckers use Amsoil bypass systems, and there
are others. There is a Amsoil bypass system for cars that cycles the whole 6
quarts of oil in about 10 minutes, according to their literature. This is
sufficient to keep the oil analitaclly clean, verified by oil sample tests.
The Trasko-USA filter I mentioned at the begininning of this string combines
a replaceable (every 10K miles) treated paper element and a 10 micron
stainless steel screen, that reduces contaminants to 1 micron or less, again
verified by oil analysis. I just checked my grand caravan's oil Amsoil 5W30
yesterday, 5K miles on it and the oil is clear, like new. It also removes
the acids, and moisture that makes the internals corrode. A daily driver
could use a good quality synthetic (Amsoil 25K oil or Mobile 1 Extended 15K
oil or similar) with the trasko-USA filter system and change the oil once a
year and filter every 10K miles. Check it out. (no I don't own part of it, I
have just found that it works) http://www.trasko-usa.com/ I have no plans
on driving my antique classic registered car more than 3-4K miles a year,
but plan on adding a Trasko-USA filter to keep the acids and moisture from
setting in the engine and causing corrosion in the winter months. Mark
