<VV> idle rattle in the 66' Corsa

Ray,
 
Before you go the expensive flywheel route check to be sure the clutch  
cable isn't rattling in the tunnel.  The felt blocks on the inside of the  
tunnel cover are supposed to take care of rattling clutch cables, but they've  
all been worn out for decades.  I've replaced mine only once in 40 years.  
Check this one out first.  
 
Secondly--The fact that the problem goes away when you put pressure on the  
shifter could mean something loose in the linkage.  
 
Put the car on ramps or very secure jackstands and listen to it  while the 
car is running.  Spend a little "Zen time" with the car as on old  hippie 
roommate used to recommend.
