I drove my 65 Monza Spyder replica for the first time since having a new
transaxle, clutch, pressure plate, thowout bearimg etc, installed. I was
going to our Derby City Corvair Club's 50th anniversary celebration at Bob
Hook Chevrolet here in Louisville, KY. I fired the beast up, drove out on
the road and nailed it through first and second. As I went to third, I found
I was back in 1st, an attempt at fourth and I was back in 2nd. No amount of
cursing or banging could persuade the uncooperative beast to shift into
third or fourth. I parked the car back in the garage and drove my Jetta to
the celebration. We installed a new rear shifter clevis, but I expect there
may be slop in the shift tube and shifter that is preventing the 3rd-4th
shift. Any ideas?

Our exhibit at Bob Hook was very nice. We had four cars in the showroom on
Friday and Saturday, Mike Demeter's 66 Yenko YS24, Phil Wiley's 65 turbo
Corsa coupe, Ken Byrley's 63 Monza convertible and Chris Wiley's 63 Spyder
convertible. We had quite a few other Corvairs outside in the parking lot
and there were lots of banners and some memorabilia in the showroom. The
club cooked free hot dogs, brats and burgers and had free soft drinks for
the crowd. Several Corvairs unknown to the club turned up and we hope to get
several new members from the exhibit. Many thanks to John Lanning who did an
excellent job organizing the event and to all our club members who helped!
