Terry, your misguided attempt to confuse the issue has actually provided one of the best reasons for joining CORSA and also the best reason why CORSA SHOULD require national membership of all who wish to join one of their CHARTERED Local or Special Interest Group Chapters. The point is that these clubs want CORSA affiliation and people want to join these clubs and to receive the benefits that come to a local club with national backing. 

 If the only thing CORSA did was to provide the national structure to support and tie these many different clubs together then THAT should be reason enough to join CORSA - so that you would be ABLE to join a local club and also several SIGs.

Even if all you want to do is run a local Corvair business you still receive benefit from the existence of a large national organization that keeps the Corvair in the public eye through national events and publications. 

All you folks who think you don't benefit from CORSA are like the parents who think their kids don't need vaccinations because we don't see "those illnesses" anymore. We don't see them because enough people DO get vaccinated to reduce the prevalence of the wild strains to a low enough level such that the ones who don't get vaccinated are protected. In medicine we call this "herd immunity". However, the "herd" is only protected so long as most still get vaccinated.   It is the same with CORSA. Many people benefit from the public exposure, even if they don't pay. But let the national club die and you will see the local clubs fail as well.

Boy we need to get all this "freeloading" stopped.  No one has even 
discussed all those CORSA members that belong to several chapters and 
only pay CORSA dues once.  I'll bet that if we got all these double, 
tripple, and more dippers to pay a CORSA membership for each chapter the 
CORSA deficit would dissapear.  It wouldn't suprize me if most if not 
all the members of the Stock Corvair Group are at least double dippers.
