now i got interested enough to dig out my Delco factory radio books.
corvair am-fm had the DS501 audio xistor (5 watts instead of DS503 3 watt on
AM ) which is external on the back of the radio, and no fader jack because
it has a stereo adapter plug.
so: make sure the speaker does not have one terminal grounded , and green
wire hooked to the grounded terminal...it has to be the black wire to
ground , make sure no body strap or metal grounds the exposed case of the DS501
audio transistor, make sure the stereo adapter plug is seated ok and the
cover screw is on the strap to it. other than that , hard to diagnose at a
distance. anyhow i am glad to have found my old original service stuff for
delco radio now! that schematic is on 2 pages , so scan is not easy, but
doable.
regards, tim colson
