you might try to use one from a car.

  I'll bet it needs to be even shorter!


Because of the SEAL at the shifter end....  I'd fab a little box.


Cut the cable and housings to what you want.


Insert the housings in the box and seal.  Clamp the cable together in the box.


Then seal the box....   make it 2"x2" x 4"  ???


 This leave the ends normal- untouched.
