Hmm. Don't know. I read that somewhere, maybe Corvair Decade. I suppose mighty 
GM never GAVE any reason, but lack of sales would be a better one than meeting 
emissions.

Regardless, there were issues with the engine in the later years with the
smog setup and keeping them cool enough, especially with A/C installed.
While these issues certainly were not insurmountable, it would have taken
some redesign to provide more air under higher pressure to get the cooling
