Having recently repaired five top studs in our Greenbrier's engine, 
including one that pulled after having  been Helicoil'ed with a 1/2" 
insert, I must emphasize Bob's last sentence. MAKE SURE to run a standard 
size die over the stock head stud threads before threading it into the 
Helicoil or other insert.
