<VV> Micrometer Torque Wrench to measure steering box ?

The manual calls for 1.5-3.5 in/lbs on the steering wheel with the pitman arm detached ?

Can I just "gauge by eye" so to speak ? (OK, by finger)

I really do not "want" to buy a $200 tool that I would only use once !

The wheel turns freely without being "lumpy" (as stated in the manual) with just the barest touch of a finger, nice and smooth, 5.2 turns lock to lock, without "locking" too hard at the stops.

I think a strong breeze would turn it easily ...

  Charles,

You don't need to go below 5 in lbs for the steering box, in my opinion (unless you really want that new tool)..
