<VV> Spyder/Corsa turbo -- fast?

I have seen Billie Bruce's turbo'ed PG 64 coupe run in the very low 13's. In fact at the last Corvair Olympics, he did once run 12 something. The track operator asked him not to do that because under 13 seconds required more safety items than he had.

Having had a Corvair that would go 13 seconds flat in the 1/4, they can
in fact be fast. True, getting a Corvair engined Corvair into the 11
second range will take some supernatural engineering, but there are
possibilities...

I have to agree that Corvairs are not fast , but , they are QUICK , and
fun to
drive. That is what it is all about.... IF you wanna smoke the tires ,
buy a Big
Block Mustang , IF you wanna car that's fast , get a Big Block [Chevy]
, Cobra
kit car, Maaaaaaaaan , my nose is still bleeding from the ride I had [0
- 120 in
an instant / 11.2 in the 1/4 mile], BUT !!! Nobody can beat a Corvair
for "MOST
FUN for the BUCK!!".

Eric,

Corvairs have never been fast. But they have always been quick which is
defined as being able to everything well in less time than their market
competition. I wouldn't ever try to outrun faster cars in a good
Corvair--I
would just drive their drivers nuts because they wouldn't be able to
easily
shake me off--I'd be right there with them. The skid pad numbers and 60
to
0 stopping numbers of a well maintained Corvair are still world
class--without ABS, Stability control and other computer programs.

I love my Malibu 3.6L V6 (0-60 in 6.2 sec. in a family sedan), and it
can
be fun--but not as much fun and certainly not as forgiving as one of my
LM
Corvairs when they are in their prime (which they unfortunately aren't
now).
