<VV> 100 Amp Alternator Option

Ya know... The more I think about alternator options, including the CS130, it seems that adding more power draw from that around the corner belt thingy may not be the best thing. Also, the CS130, for instance, can pull 20 amps at the rotor, making full voltage at idle, with the consequence of requiring a buttload of torque to turn the thing!

My point being, big amp alternators are a good thing, but wouldn't it be better if it wasn't driven by the fanbelt?

And to answer your question, there is no GM alternator that will fit a Corvair end frame that makes that much current. There are aftermarket alternators that can. Google can help!

Is there a 100 amp alternator upgrade, similar to the 63 amp one described

in the Tech Guide?

If so, what alternator (make. model., year) do I need to ask for at the

local FLAPS?

Thanks,
