i think there are pictures of the results from pinging / detonation on a

it took the rings out of the top grooves in pieces. it took 3 qts of oil to 
get home @235 miles.

Your pictures are interesting. 


The effects of detonation are most pronounced out at the edges of the piston, where they are "supposed" to be, since that is where the detonation lives. 


Other abnormal combustions are likley to melt the middle of the piston

The Moly is still visible in the remaining upper ring. The original non-plasma moly was kind of susceptible to being shaken loose by detonation.. 
Perhaps the missing portions of ring took most of the hit. 


looks like there is a well develped crack in the skirt
