Jim:
  Had a similiar issue on the ex's 64, turned out to be a shorted 
distributer lead...
    As it passed under the cap to the outside, there's a steel keeper 
around the wire.
    If there's an opening in the insulation, this can short out as the 
engine warms up...
    A real bugger to find...
