Only the 62 and 63 Spyders have the white ceramic block style ballast 
resistor mounted on the rear frame rail. All other Corvairs use a 
resistance wire in the wiring harness.

Don't forget the points plate can develop an intermittent connection on  
the pivot. Usually not time related.
